Currently reading Engineering at University of Oxford, I'm passionate about sharing my love for maths and physics with students. I've been working as a tutor for the last three years, teaching students from year 9 up into A level, University admissions and entrance exams. I'm driven by curiosity and the desire to understand the world around me, I'm always asking how and why something works which is why I'm pursuing Engineering. This shows in my teaching as I never take the just memorise it approach, I want the students to actually understand the content. I love showing to students the engaging parts of maths and physics, whether this is the interesting real world examples or the crazy techniques used, I enjoy spreading the fascination for the subject.
I show students how to unlock the grade 9 questions by breaking down the hard exam questions, mark schemes and examiners reports, and then feeding this information back in a digestible mannor.
Students often can understand the basic mathematics but struggle to access the higher marked and often more conceptual style questions. I work by breaking down the theory so that it is understood not just memorised and then show examples of how to apply it to gain the marks.

Meet your tutor first and see if it feels right. Douglas will help you choose the support that suits your child best, 1-to-1 tutoring, live classes, or both.
I'm a member of the Oxford University Racing society, where I design, build and test the aerodynamic components of the car, as well as this I'm apart of the University Rocketry society.
Outside of work, I captain the college football side, playing a mix of 11 and 5 aside games.
One student never found maths or physics fun so didn't spend any time on the subject, getting low grades at GCSE. I showed him how exciting and inspiring maths can be. Resulting in him turning around his grades and taking them for Alevel.
Studia’s live classes are expert-led, small-group sessions that combine the structure of tutoring with the energy of a classroom, without leaving home.
Helps child build sustainable learning habits.
Students aren’t passive listeners. They ask questions, solve problems live, and engage with peers.
Missed a session? Every class is recorded so your child can rewatch tricky topics at their own pace.
